2009 Festival to Feature 16 Bands

To celebrate its 5th anniversary, the Muscatatuck River Music Festival has expanded to include 16 bands over 2 days. The festival takes place in Jennings County’s beautiful Muscatatuck Park. The gates open Friday, May 8, at 5:00 pm, and music starts at 6:00 pm and will run until 11:30 Friday night. The music starts again at 11:00 am on Saturday morning and lasts until 11:30 Saturday night.

Advance tickets are on sale now for $10 each, and are good for both days.  Children 12 and under get in free with an adult. Tickets will be $15 at the gate. Tickets can be purchased at the Visitor Center at Muscatatuck Park in North Vernon, Kingpin’s Roadhouse in Butlerville, Tom Pickett’s Music Center in Columbus, 13th Floor Music in Seymour, or online at www.muscatatuckmusic.com.

Bands for the 2009 show are Friday night headliner Murder by Death, 650north, Sweet Dilemma, Stereo Deluxe, Surrender Dorothy, David McMillin, Rusty Bladen, The Early Evening, Intentions to Break, Kolassin K and the Two Ton Twos, Code Blue, Concept, Franny Hall, and Younger Brother. There are 2 bands yet to be announced, including Saturday’s headliner.

In addition to music, there will be a variety of food vendors and amusements on site. Food vendors include Kingpin’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que, Pizza Kingdom, Kountry Kids Kettle Korn, Coco Bongos (a tropical drink vendor), and Bobby G’s PitStop (gyros, hand cut fries). Budweiser and Bud Light will be on tap in the beer garden.

Returning in 2009 is the trampoline bungee jump that was so popular at last year’s show. A charity cornhole tournament will be held for the benefit of Friends of the Muscatatuck River Society, and teams will be able to preregister on our website, www.muscatatuckmusic.com, in the near future.

The campground at Muscatatuck Park will be open for the festival and offers 35 sites with electricity and water, plus a large amount of primitive camping. Camping can be arranged by calling the Jennings County Visitor Center at (812) 346-2953.

The Muscatatuck River Music Festival is presented by River of Blues Productions, an event company based in North Vernon, Indiana, in partnership with Indiana’s Rock Station Y106, Muscatatuck Park, and Friends of the Muscatatuck River Society.
